Angiogenesis in cancer

Boehringer Ingelheim

In response to hypoxia, tumor cells often produce multiple proangiogenic growth factors. These can bind to and activate different receptor tyrosine kinases. The activation of Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR), Platelet-derived Growth Factor Receptor (PDGFR) or Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor (VEGFR) leads to the promotion of angiogenesis.
