New content: BIBF 1120 (Vargatef) has been developed in Phase I and Phase II study in non-small cell lung cancer. It is an oral small molecule that is able to act inside the endothelial cell stopping the process of developing the new endothelial cells and consequently the new vessels. The drug has been combined with chemotherapy in second line and also in first line. And the results have been promising in terms of activity and in terms of safety. So, it is one of the new anti-angiogenic agents that are at the moment being evaluated in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer but which has shown also activity in prostate cancer and in other types of tumours.
