There are four receptors in the ErbB (or HER)family of tyrosine kinase receptors family, ErbB1, 2, 3, and 4 also known as: EGFR (HER1/ErbB1), HER2 (ErbB2), HER3 (ErbB3) and HER4 (ErbB4). The ErbB (or HER) family of tyrosine kinase receptors, especially receptors ErbB1 (or EGFR) and ErbB2 (or HER2), has been identified as an important therapeutic target in a number of cancers.
