There are three different types of receptors for VEGF: VEGFR-1 involved in angiogenesis and regulation of haematopoietic (blood forming) cells and inflammatory cells; VEGFR-2 the principal VEGRF involved in angiogenesis, and VEGFR-3 involved in lymphangiogenesis (formation of new lymph vessels).
